Introducing immigrants Road

I’m often asked, “Where are you from?”, an innocent question with a complicated answer. I was born in Shanghai in 1943, raised in England, emigrated to Canada and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1976. That journey over 8 decades is the inspiration for Immigrant’s Roadpodcast, the first outreach initiative of Global Synergistic Living.
My path in life has been shaped by opportunities that, at the time, seemed to be a combination of naivete and luck, but in hindsight are the epitome of synergy. Immigrant’s Road is the latest of those opportunities. It’s a project that recognizes what we all have in common, regardless of where we come from, or what the reasons were for leaving “home”.
Today, I find myself thinking of the future - which may be uncharacteristic for someone who just celebrated his 80th trip around the sun - but my youngest grandchild is four years old and I am trying to see the world through his eyes and imagine what it will look like.
To help navigate the future, I want my grandchildren to know what they share with those who came before them. That includes the lucky, good, joyful stuff as well as the difficult and sad stuff. That knowledge is the connective tissue that binds generations together. Immigrant’s Road is one step in that journey for my family and I hope you find it opens up an opportunity to communicate and connect on a deeper level with the people you love.
